How to Get There

Driving directions from Sierra Vista, Bisbee, and Douglas:
Take US 80 through Rodeo, New Mexico. (Note: The Rodeo gas station is closed - nearest gas is Animas @ 30 miles from Paradise or San Simon, @ 25 miles from Paradise. Last chance for gas is in Douglas!!!) Two miles past Rodeo, turn left at onto New Mexico 533. (You will see signs for Portal and Wonderland of Rocks.) Pass the Portal Store and Portal Peak Lodge on your left, and then bear right up Forest Service Road 42B. (This is a scenic, five-and-a-half-mile graded dirt road.) At the Paradise mailboxes, follow 42B sharply to the left. Pass three houses, Walker Avenue, and a tiny adobe building, all on your right, and then look for our sign, also on the right. Turn right up George Walker Lane, which is our driveway. We are the two red houses set back on the hill. The George Walker House is on the left, our house is on the right.
Driving directions from Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Reserve:
Take I-25 south to Hatch, New Mexico, and US 26 to Deming. Last chance for groceries and GAS is in Lordsburg. (Note: The Roadforks gas station is closed, as is the Rodeo RV. There is NO GAS in Rodeo.) Take I-10 west to Road Forks and then pick up US 80 heading towards Douglas , Arizona and Agua Prieta, Sonora. 30 miles later, turn right onto New Mexico 533. (You will see signs for Portal and Wonderland of Rocks.) Pass the Portal Store and Portal Peak Lodge on your left, and then bear right up Forest Service Road 42B. Driving directions from Tucson:
Take I-10 East to San Simon. Buy gas at exit 378; it's your last chance. Then get back on I-10 for five more miles, leaving the highway at the Portal Road exit, number 382. Turn left on the frontage road - do not go back over the freeway - and turn right onto the Portal/Noland Road. Stay straight on the Portal Road for about 20 miles, the first eight of which are paved. At about the halfway mark, disregard the left-hand Foothills Road turnoff towards Portal. Pass an "Entering Paradise" sign, a row of mailboxes, pass three houses, Walker Avenue, and a tiny adobe building, all on your right, and then look for our sign, also on the right. Turn right up George Walker Lane, which is our driveway. We are the two red houses set back on the hill. The George Walker House is on the left, our house is on the right.
Or to avoid 15 miles of dirt road - continue on toward Road Forks, NM. (The Roadforks gas station is closed. If you did not get gas at exit 382 and are running low, go into Lordsburg. Flying J has cheapest gas.) Take US 80 toward Douglas, AZ and 30 miles later turn right onto New Mexico 533. (You will see signs for Portal and Wonderland of Rocks.) Pass the Portal Store and Portal Peak Lodge on your left, and then bear right up Forest Service Road 42B. (This is a scenic five-and-a half-mile graded dirt road.) At the Paradise mailboxes, follow 42B sharply to the left. Pass three houses, Walker Avenue, and a tiny adobe building, all on your right, and then look for our sign, also on the right.
